Why is the Grenouillère so famous?

Between 1855 and 1928, this guinguette restaurant on the banks of the Seine at Croissy attracted not just Parisians eager for leisure activities, but also writers, such as Maupassant and the most famous painters.  The museum now serves as the memory of this place renown for leisure, culture and enjoyment, with a large collection of paintings, objects and engravings displayed in a Belle Epoque setting.
